Hello, I'm Daniel Nguyen!
I am passionate about tackling barriers and systems to help individuals exist and succeed in any environment. With a background rooted in social work, I develop impact-driven programs for communities at for-profit and non-profit organizations to give individuals the opportunity to thrive.
My Story
I always had a passion for food growing up. I loved mixing different ingredients in order to find the perfect combinations and creations. I decided to train to become a chef in high school. After three years, I realized becoming a chef was not the path for me. I felt lost for quite sometime after, working towards what I thought was my dream.
After graduating UCLA with a B.A. in Asian American Studies, I started my career as a community organizer and mental health counselor at a non-profit. I worked with Black, Indigenous, people of color, and LGBTQIA+ individuals to personally tailor sessions, addressing the unique needs of each person and to provide them with the skills necessary to be able to make healthy choices for their lives.
Five years into my career, I decided to pursue my Master in Social Work at the University of Southern California with a focus on helping nonprofit organizations strengthen their internal structures, in order to better serve their communities. Most recently, I decided to make a transition and bring my talents to the tech industry by leading diversity and inclusion initiatives to make the workplace more equitable.
With my depth of experience, I realized I wanted to take on this dual challenge of working alongside companies to make opportunities accessible, while providing individuals with the tools and resources to thrive at these companies. This is my current dream, but who knows where I’ll be 10 years from now as the journey to discover yourself is a never-ending one. I am always committed to learning new things about myself and accepting the challenges that come with change.
